Why Every Business Needs a Dedicated Debt Collection Partner
Late payments and outstanding invoices are among the biggest threats to business stability. Having a professional debt collection partner isn't just a safety net. It's an essential pillar of a healthy financial strategy.
- Protects Your Cash Flow: Cash is the lifeblood of any enterprise. When invoices go unpaid, working capital tightens, halting investments, hiring, and day-to-day operations. A dedicated collection partner ensures your revenue cycles remain smooth and predictable.
- Preserves Business Relationships: Chasing late payments internally can create awkward friction between you and your clients. By acting as an external buffer, we handle the difficult conversations and persistent follow-ups, allowing you to maintain a professional rapport with your clients when accounts are eventually settled.
- Frees Up Internal Resources: Chasing debtors takes valuable time away from your team. Instead of tying up your staff in administrative phone calls and stressful negotiations, outsourcing to specialists lets your team focus entirely on driving sales and growing your business.
- Maximises Recovery Rates with Legal Compliance: Navigating commercial credit regulations and legal frameworks requires specialist knowledge. Attempting recovery without proper expertise can lead to compliance pitfalls or prolonged disputes. An experienced partner ensures every action taken is legally sound, significantly increasing your chances of a successful payout.

Debt Recovery FAQs
What types of debt does Money Claim Collections recover?
We specialise in commercial, business-to-business debt: unpaid invoices and outstanding balances owed by one business to another. Our service runs from pre-legal recovery and Letters Before Action through to County Court claims, County Court Judgments (CCJs), statutory demands and enforcement.
What is a Letter Before Action?
A Letter Before Action (LBA) is a formal written demand sent before court proceedings are issued. It sets out the amount owed and gives the debtor a deadline to pay or respond. It is an expected pre-action step before most court claims, and in many cases it prompts payment without the need to go to court.
What happens if a debtor ignores a Letter Before Action?
If the debt remains unpaid, we can issue a County Court claim. If the debtor does not respond, a County Court Judgment (CCJ) can be entered against them and then enforced. For undisputed debts, a statutory demand can also be served, which can lead to a winding-up petition against a company or a bankruptcy petition against an individual.
Can I claim interest and compensation on a late-paid commercial invoice?
Usually, yes. Under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, a business can claim statutory interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate on late payments from another business, plus fixed compensation of £40, £70 or £100 depending on the size of the debt, unless the contract sets out different terms.
How do I submit a debt to Money Claim Collections?
You can submit a debt using our online debt submission form, call us on 0800 640 6618, or email collections@moneyclaimcollections.co.uk.
